  1. I smoked it this morning (Sunday) at our local beach here in Victoria. We can have 10-12 people on nice days other than Mothers day. Today just 2 of us It was a non-Cuban Romeo Y Julieta by Romeo. A cigar I bought a box of 2 years ago specifically for the beach. We smoked and chatted while watching an eagle look for a late breakfast. A million dollar view made it a great smoke.
  2. For buying real Cuban their is the official supplier in Phomn Phen. Asia is not known for cheap Cuban cigars and in general I found the price to be 80% Canada. The shop is located close to the river and has a few chairs inside and outside. I specifically booked a small hotel across the road from it. A couple of cigar I smoked there were plugged and the guy gave me a new one once I complained. Otherwise they seemed fine. Some hotels may have a few from this shop elsewhere but the table top humidor did not look well looked after. Bring lots of your own. http://www.habanos.com/en/lugar/la-casa-del-habano-12/?age-verified=5972501c7c
  3. I used a ATM outside the plaza america in Varadero. I did not want to think about it when buying cigars but later I recall it was 73 cents when the quoted rate for our loonie was 76 cents or at least it was before I left a week and a half before. I still remember the 60 cent travel buck.
  4. french press, not espresso but with a good bean and grind you get more bulk and great taste. Super cheap and no seals
  5. Nice large site. Going tent (truck) camping for the first time in a few years. My choice of campgrounds is a native reserve on the west coast of Vancouver island. You can camp on the beach if you want. They never took reservations before but now they do and it was hard to get a spot for more than a couple of days. Seems more people camp these days. I also just read about the increase in Lyme decease so keep an eye out for those ticks
  6. I live in Victoria. In fact I am smoking a cigar right now. I will pm you

  8. My guess is even the government thinks the embargo will be lifted sooner than later
  9. Does look great. Looks like my far East trips will be limited next year due to a co-worker retiring and we'll the dollar sucks. Likely the cabin on a lake with cigar along side. Enjoy!!
  10. OK personally the siglo 6 is much better. I smoked the Espendio tonight and found less flavourful and I seem to recall they had consistency issues in the past. Of course this a personal opinion based on my tastes so ....
  11. I let you know next week. I do not usually do cohiba but had a iv and vi this week and will smoke an esp. Tomorrow. It's been a long time since I smoked one
  12. I watch la liga and enjoy Barcelona. I also follow the uefa games. Time limits other leagues but I occasionally watch a premier game or the German league.

    Taking breaks

This is a tough decision. I get enjoyment out of taking time to smoke a good cigar. Event if my palate is not 100% I still enjoy it. There are times after a short break where a cigars can taste sublime adding to this but there are allot of factors that influence this and sometimes I have one after several days smoking and on the second of the day it is sublime. While I enjoy smoking a cigar alone which allows for quiet reflection or just a break from constructive thinking or perhaps contemplation of the cigar favors I also enjoy a herf event for its own merits. In the end there are times when I know a break is called for as even food starts to be muted.
