Tasting Notes | A terrific smoke from start to finish. Immaculate construction. |
As you may have noticed, I haven’t been able to review many smokes lately! Life has been extremely busy with work and kids.
As luck would have it, I had some time yesterday to enjoy a smoke. I decided to pull out an Epi 1 I had received at RMS from @leatherman.
Let’s just say I’m very glad I did!
It’s a good looking cigar with no soft spots. The wrapper is a lighter shade of brown than you typically see these days.
Pre-light, there is not much of an aroma on the wrapper or foot.
I give the cap a cut with my trusty scissors and light it up. Things start out very smoothly with cream and leather on the palate.
The draw is absolutely perfect. It’s a very nice smoke in the early going.
The body on this cigar is very full with a nice buttery mouth feel. The age on the cigar has really mellowed out the strength.
There is very little nicotine buzz present. I’m really enjoying this cigar!
At the halfway mark, some spice enters the mix. There is a beautiful lingering finish at this stage.
In the final third, the profile shifts a little and some earthy notes join the leather & spice.
This cigar was an absolute pleasure to smoke. The construction was perfect. There were no touch-ups or relights required throughout.
The draw was also dead-on. There was also a fair bit of complexity as new flavours emerged throughout.
If you happen to come across some ’07 HDM Epi 1’s JUMP ON THEM!!!
