| Tasting Notes | A fantastic smoke considering its age |
I recently snagged a box of Punch Punch (BAM AGO 13). I had read that these were smoking quite well despite their youth, so I decided to check it out for myself.
It’s a very nice looking cigar with a smooth, rich brown wrapper. The prelight aroma is sweet. After a punch (who wouldn’t punch a Punch Punch?), I take a cold draw which tastes a lot like bread. The resistance is perfect.
I light it up and notice the draw is spot on. Excellent construction on this cigar! The body is medium. The finish is very long and leaves a pleasantly lingering spice on the tongue. This cigar is somewhat one-noted at this point. There hasn’t been much fluctuation in profile but the cigar is very enjoyable, with lots of bready flavours coming through. It’s also got a rich, oily mouth feel and a tantalizing aroma. It’s a wonderfully balanced cigar.
During the final third, the profile does change a little and some earthy notes enter the mix. The long spicy finish remains throughout. This cigar was medium bodied and required no touch-ups whatsoever. It did go out on me once in the final third but that was probably my fault as I left it at rest too long.
Considering this cigar is just under a year old they show tremendous promise!
A quick side note: I paired this cigar with Ole Smoky Sweet Tea Moonshine. Just pour it over ice with some lemon. Fantastic stuff! https://olesmoky.com/products/sweet-tea
