It was a beautiful day yesterday so I headed out to the back yard for a smoke. I decided to grab a Por Larranaga Petit Corona (PLPC). I recently picked up a cab of these for those times when you have about 45 minutes to burn.<\/p>\n

The PLPC is an old-school looking smoke. The Por Larranaga band is very unassuming. Some may call it ugly, but I quite like the low-fi appearance. The wrapper is fairly smooth with some thin veins. It feels solid with no soft spots.<\/p>\n

These cigars smell fantastic on the pre-light. Lots of sweetness and honey coming through. I gave it a punch cut and lit her up. The draw was slightly too tight in the early going but it didn’t really hamper the smoke too much. The cigars I have sampled from this cab have all burned beautifully and this one was no exception.<\/p>\n

There’s a slight tingle on the tongue in the early stages which is a bit odd since there really isn’t much spice or pepper present. There’s a lot of leather and honey on the palate but I do detect a bit of an ashy aftertaste. It’s unfortunate because I haven’t detected this in my other samples from this cab. Perhaps it’s time to rest them awhile?<\/p>\n

Regardless, it’s still an enjoyable smoke. The ashy aftertaste comes and goes but the honey and leather are persistent throughout. There’s also a nice buttery finish on these cigars.<\/p>\n

I would peg these cigars as medium bodied with low to medium strength.<\/p>\n

Near the end of the cigar the profile shifts slightly and I pick up some minty, tingly notes. I put the cigar down at the 45 minute mark.<\/p>\n

Overall, these are great smokes for the money. If I was a smoke a day guy (if only I had the time!) I would reach for these regularly.<\/p>\n
