  1. I've been intrigued by people converting wine fridges into wineadors. I waited until I found someone getting rid of a broken one for free. I removed the broken cooling units from the rear and had a friend connect the fans to the circuit board so they were in the on position. I use a timer/power bar to have the fans run a half dozen times a day. Another friend, with a work shop, helped me cut up some spanish cedar boards to make trays and shelves. I'm using beads to humidify the wineador after seasoning it. Here is how it turned out... I also have second mid sized humidor. I still need more room. Not a bad problem to have.
  2. I got back from Cayo Guillermo a couple of weeks ago. I stayed at the Melia that has a LCDH at the resort. They had a decent selection at the time. A few of the smaller packs I picked up at the Cayo Coco airport. The Ramon Allones Superiores, Epicure de Luxe and Seleccion Piramides are from 2017!
  3. I just got back from Cayo Guillermo last week. Two things. There IS a LCDH at the Melia Cayo Guillermo. I bought a number of 10 count boxes there. Second, the CUCs are NOT accepted in the Cayo Coco airport after you check-in and pass through immigration and security. You are advised a number of times to this fact and there is a currency exchange counter in the check-in area. As I am heading to Cayo Santa Maria in April, I took the chance and brought home 40 CUCs. They are still not sure how this single currency is going to pan out.
  4. I just returned from the Melia Cayo Guillermo last week. Their LCDH is decent for being out there. I picked up some 10 count boxes of Cohiba Secretos, Ramon Allones Superiores, San Cristobal Prado and Hoyo Epicure De Luxe. The Hoyos and Allones are from 2017 🤤. The Prados are from June 2019 so I may let them rest until the summer before trying them. The LCDH there opens at 9ish and closes at 8:30pm eventhough the sign says 9pm.
  5. Hi CCF, Sorry for my absence from the site. I'm not much of social media kind of guy. A recent trip to Cuba has my cigar affection rekindled. I live in the deep south of the city of Ottawa. I hope to herf with a few members at Bacchus in the near future. Best to all at CCF
  6. I see I don't need to visit the cigar porn thread tonight. Like a kid in front of the candy store window... (that is locked). Great cigars BOTLs.
  7. I reach for my Xikar V-cutter whenever possible.
  8. I really like these. I find them smooth, good burn and smoke. I can't really distinguish between flavours, so my rating is usually: I really liked it I liked it I didn't like it I really didn't like it As for the prices, they were from a .5 to 1.5 pesos more per stick than the YUL guide from what I remember. Cost of transportation from Havana?

    Cuba!!

ditto. The Santa Clara Duty free was almost empty of cigars.
  10. I was just at the LCDH near that resort last week. They had a decent supply of most brands. No LE or REs. Check out my post in recent cuban purchase or cuban cigar porn. You may want to consider the custom cigars from Miguel. I'm not sure what your instructions will be to your friend. Will you be providing her a list of brands and vitolas?
  11. That looks like the picture of ChefJohn's recent score from Varadero in the recent purchases Cuba board.

    Cuba!!

They have an LCDH at the Pueblo Estrella (shopping centre) besides the Memories and Royalton (I believe). There is a tour shuttle (open top) double decker bus for 2 pesos that goes to resorts, the dolphinarium and the Pueblo. Have fun.
  13. I have not been to Varadero but I gather he is a resident cigar roller either at Plaza las Americas or Calle 63. Someone who knows will let us know. I hope you have a enjoyable trip. The customs I bought just recently in Cayo Santa Maria were 3.80 & 4.20 pesos I believe.
  14. Three way tie for me. H. Upmann (majestics and No. 2) Montecristo (No. 2 & 4) Romeo y Julieta (churchills and cedros)
  15. Maybe you can have her learn to roll cigars on her thighs Best of both worlds. Welcome to forum.
