-- What a devastating day. I decided to check on my humidor today and when I shone the light from my iPhone on the humidor meter and cigars I noticed holes! Panicking I scanned more boxes with the light and spotted more holes! Immediately I took out all the boxes to inspect and found the beetles had infiltrated about 5 boxes of cigars, including some Cohiba Esplendido's and Cohiba Exquisitos. The most affected were a box of Montecristo #4 and a box of Hoyo de Monterrey. In total I had to toss 5 sticks that were beyond damaged and there were probably another 20-25 affected with holes. I've Ziploc'd them all and into the freezer they go. After 4 or 5 days I'll reintroduce them to my humidor again. Luckily I had probably another 500 or so cigars that were unaffected. The ones with holes I'll attempt to smoke regardless. I just can't toss that much investment into the bin. The weird thing is I've had many of these cigars for a year, or two, or more in the humidor with no issue. It boggles my mind where the damn things came from. But they were there clear as day. I even saw 3 live ones . . . and killed them. From now on everything goes in the freezer before the humidor.
