Finally got my Aristocrat home, now to purchase my first box!

My significant other decided to surprise me with a special gift this year. A gift to celebrate my 40th anniversary. She commissioned a local fellow to build a custom bespoke desktop humidor. Needless to say, I am extremely pleased and will cherish this particular work of art for years to come. Would really like to thank my wife and Mr. Delorme for such a beautiful birthday gift.

A couple of boxes of H.Upmann half coronas (winter sticks) showed up at work today ,they will have a nap over the summer/fall.

Came home to a couple boxes waiting for me.....

Well I am sadly back from Cuba. Not that I don't love you guys but given the choice..... We stayed at the Valentin Perla Blanca on Cayo Santa Maria. So I took my wife to the local LCDH which is a short taxi ride away. I drove err navigated. They have a fairly typical tourist humidor so I was at the bottom of my long list before I found anything I really wanted to take home with the exception of the Noella Jar and 2 of 6 remaining LGC #4s Eddy had. I also got the roller to whip me up some little guys. Luckily we went to the LCDH in Santa Clara a few days later where I picked up the rest of the goodies. Including the last 2 2010 Vegas Robainas and last 4 2010 Partagas Lustianias she had as well as a sweet 2013 box of Culabras. I also swapped two pair of sunglasses that were 3 year old dead stock for this little bundle of "R & J " banana leaf wrapped sticks. I hope that maybe @@quickme will do quality control on them. And a little rum. There were three bottles when I went to bed but my wife must have taken one to work. LOL And I was only about 60 sticks over my limit.

First box of cubans ever! Blind buy but pretty sure im gonna like em!

I took an unused space in the basement, adjacent to walls which never see sun.(pic= 'the space') Framed it mimicking our kitchen pantry, added 6mil poly then 5/8" G1S plywood as a backing board both to help the poly seal,and not worry about finding studs for the shelves. 1" terra cotta floor tiles, LED lights for no heat, Mahogany finish wood, an electronic locking handset so no need for keys, wire shelving (I'm practical, and dislike wood shelves) and the sealed glass door with etched Habanos logo. A little later I tired of my customs and singles in multiple old boxes so I sacrificed a shelf and made a cubby out of leftover mahogany. For added cedar scent I added 16 board feet of 1" thick rough cut spanish cedar, spaced from the walls, distributed along the back of each shelf. Pretty happy with it for my first go-round at a humi

Stunning box of Dip RE Cuba, some very exciting partagas charlottes from '99, a single Cuaba and some tasty looking customs. Hell of a haul, extremely generous to waste some of his allotment on me. Back from a great week in Cayo Coco at the Memories Flamenco. And while the selection was not great i did manage to come home with a few sticks. I had 25 of Daniels customs but only 22 made it home. His customs are somewhere between a Monte and an Upmann in profile - if that makes sense. I got a 10er of his robutos and a 10er of what he calls edmundos - torpedo style about 6 inches by 52ish. And I got two bags of Peso sticks from two different sources and while they are the same brand they look completely different. The one I smoked down there was a really good stick, although it was very "wet" and needed a couple of relights. I think with a couple of months to dry out they will actually be great sticks. For the $5 CUCs a bag I paid to get them delivered to me they are probably the bargain of the trip. And the one that I let go of was a box of 2012 Juan Lopez #2s. The hotel humi had a box and a half and after smoking one of the singles I went back for the box. After opening the box I discovered a bit of mold on the heads of several of them but was still seriously interested. As I was closing up the box a beetle went running across the top and I went running away from the store! Needless to say I drank large quantities of great Cuban dark rum and smoked my brains out. I will post a few in the "What are you smoking..." thread. Cheers.

It took a while but I was able to snag 2 boxes of last years 898 German Regional at MSRP. One for me and one for a friend. Special thanks to another friend for bringing these into Canada for me.

My little haul from yesterday on or day trip i to Playa.

Busy at the post office this week. Firstly, our excellent BOTL @@BobWalls helped me liberate some RA Gordito Canada Exclusives out of his local B&M. The trip across Saskatchewan is lonely. Luckily he sent a body guard with them. I also managed to talk MY local B&M out of releasing me a box from their aging stash. And then a small shipment showed up the following day. Yay me.

Got back from the island yesterday. Great time - smoked my brains out and brought back some friends. They are now sitting in the fridge getting prepped for hibernation for a couple days. Also a bottle of rum and coffee (not shown) Great time and weather was 30+ all week.

Happy mail day when I got home! A beauty rich & oily box of VR Maestros, and the seller even sent one of the best Bolivars ever made! Last one I had was stellar, I am very much looking forward for these to settle down after their long voyage across the sea, but man, our exchange sure sucks. Bought for $150usd and after exchange, and fees and shipping it came to 230cdn...

Just got back from France. Didn't get a lot of what I hoped and ran into some thieving shops but managed to come home with some discontinued sticks, couple ten count San Juan and a 09 box of ERDM RE. Lots to buy..not enough budget!

It's great when wife works from home. If a package arrives, she can sign for it! Yummy stuff arrival!

Well. These were only possible because of some amazing people I know and because when I want something I am very very very big pain in the butt... I was able to set them aside in Havana through a friend who kept them safe for me until my girl from Varadero, who by chance had to travel to Havana brought them to her shop....until another friend from Winnipeg was amazing enough to bring them home to me...over 2 months in the making.... . Now I owe a lot of favors but I am sure they will be well worth it .

Picked up a box of the Club Allones...

I recently had an opportunity to stock pile for 2016.... This year I've been mostly into short smokes so I'm following this trend with this order....Should help me out this winter into 2016..... MT Puritos, RyJ Puritos, RyJ No 3 Tubos, JLP Petit Cazadores, RGPC, HUHC, HU Majestics, PLP, BCJ, Cab of Party Shorts (a favorite) PSD 4 (been out of these for a while) & a special treat with these LE boxes of Hoyos & Bolivars Some are already in the desktops on hand, others in the coolidor resting till next summer (if I can resist)

Buddy just got back from Cuba and grabbed these for me, did a damn good job!

First purchase in a long while...

I'm glad the mail delivery wasn't affected by the storm. Some winter stock and deals too good to pass up.

....but then I made some great new friends at the resort who were coming back to Moncton and I was able to add: and a final group picture of my entire trips purchases....

A very wise BOTL once told me "find what you like, wait for it to go on sale, then buy the fuck out of it!" Some of the best cigar advice I've received to date. Nothing special. Just top ups when there was a deal to be had. #crappydollar
